The purpose of the hopper is to facilitate the process of unloading bulk solids from ships to trucks in the port area of Arteixo. This particular hopper is equipped with two chambers with bottom discharge through a total of six double-flap discharge spouts operated by hydraulic cylinders. It has a total capacity of 140m3 and weighs approximately 70 tons.
The main body of the hopper consists of two chambers with unevenly sloped cones joined together to prevent material accumulation, designed to receive products with a cross-section of 9,800 x 9,000 mm.
The self-supporting structure is a structural portal type, built with standardized laminated structure profiles and consists of four support legs with twin wheels braced together in a lattice pattern. The structure is designed to withstand the stresses to which it is subjected both during the unloading process and when being moved empty to its location.
Additionally, an upper extension is installed, formed by an auxiliary structure, with a total height of 2,000 mm to prevent material dispersion during unloading.
The main body and the self-supporting structure are covered by walls around the entire perimeter, reducing the truck access area and thus confining the spaces. These walls are made of trapezoidal sheet metal.
