In 2023, a 52-meter-long eco-friendly iron ore conveyor belt will be manufactured and installed in the port of Motril.
This custom-made belt is one of the first examples of eco-friendly iron ore loading onto ships in Spain and Europe. The conveyor belt is completely enclosed and has a suction system that eliminates dust generation in the environment. It transports iron ore from the dock, where trucks unload into chain feeders installed on both sides of the belt, to the ship's hold using a telescopic sleeve. The loading capacity is 750 tons per hour.
This eco-friendly conveyor belt was specially designed for the port of Motril with the aim of minimizing the environmental impact during ship loading activities.
This new project will boost the export of iron ore to Asian countries thanks to the partnership between the shipping agency Consignaciones y Estibas Motril, SL and Minería de Alquife.
