The trommel consists of a rotating cylinder with internal blades. The trommel is supported on the ground by roller bearings, while transmission is provided by a motor, pinion, and ring gear. A stream of hot air passing through the trommel in an isocurrent manner, always in the same direction, and the rotation of the trommel cause the product to move forward, impacting the internal blades. This process achieves heat transfer and, therefore, separation of the solid and liquid, which evaporates due to the heat.
This trommel, made of stainless steel, is 12.5 meters long and 4.60 meters in diameter. It also has a set of two cyclones to separate solid particles suspended in the air, gas, or liquid flow, without the use of an air filter, using a vortex for separation.
Finally, it is worth noting a 30-meter-high chimney with a diameter of 1.50 meters. It is made of flanged sections, with an inlet connection from the VTI fan. Screw-on inspection and maintenance ports, with access ladders for sampling, intermediate platform for rest and sampling platform in accordance with UNE-EN 15259.
